Owned and operated by M.J. Houghton, or Mistress Megan O'Donnelly
in the SCA, we are one of the few providers of quality hand woven goods in
the United States.
White Wolf and the Phoenix began in the early 1990s as a single-person,
part-time business, and has continued over the past twelve years to grow
and expand, becoming the craft-based business that M.J. has wanted since
she was in college. She now works full time, and presides over the activities
of three apprentices, as well as attending re-enactment events as a merchant
year-round.
In addition, on April 5, 2003, she was awarded the Laurel, an SCA arts
and sciences award, in recognition of her mastery of the weaving craft.
The Laurel is the highest award available to craftsmen in the SCA and
is awarded only to those who exhibit the highest quality of workmanship.
Production of the looms was begun after people asked M.J. where she had
found the loom that Michael, her husband, had created for her, and
asked if he could make them looms. Other tools of the craft, as well as the
pattern
and instruction books we sell, have also enjoyed a similar introduction
into our stock.
Browse the site, and peruse the goods. We have a wide selection of stock,
and if you are unable to find what you are looking for, we are willing
to take custom orders.
